Completely custom. We do not install prefab grill island kits. Our outdoor kitchens are built in place using concrete block, stone, and masonry — built to your specific footprint, yard grade, and desired layout. This takes more time and costs more than a drop-in kit, but the result holds up through Texas weather cycles in ways that modular kit kitchens do not.
Attached patio covers that connect to your home's existing structure generally require a building permit in most Tarrant and Johnson County jurisdictions. We are familiar with the requirements for cities in our service area and build to code on all projects. Freestanding structures like pergolas typically fall below the permit threshold, but this varies by city and structure size — we check first rather than build something that requires changes after the fact.
Significantly. Blackland Prairie clay is expansive — it swells with moisture and shrinks as it dries, exerting pressure on footings and foundation elements. Pergola posts, deck footings, and any structure anchored into clay soil requires properly deep footings set below the active soil zone. We set our footings to account for DFW's specific soil behavior. Structures built on inadequately deep footings in clay soil shift, lean, and eventually fail — ours do not.
A standard pergola build takes one to two days. A covered patio with structural framing typically takes two to three days. An outdoor kitchen project ranges from three days to a week depending on complexity and whether concrete work is involved. Full outdoor living room projects with multiple elements are planned and scheduled individually. Lead time from quote to build start typically runs one to three weeks. Because Angels does both construction and landscaping, we can plan and build the whole outdoor space as a single cohesive project rather than two separate contractor relationships.
